Swansea could put paid to the dreams of the Baggies against Chelsea this evening - but if the Blues defeat the Swans, then the dream is alive for West Brom. They face a tougher test against Tottenham Hotspur next weekend - but given their current run of form, you wouldn't necessarly bank against them. As for Newcastle, they face off with Watford in a week where they look to get back to winning ways; until then however, thank you for joining us and have a great weekend!

A sole first-half goal from matt Phillips proved the difference for West Brom as Darren Moore kept his unbeaten record intact as caretaker manager. The Baggies secure three vital points that keeps their dreams of staying in the top-flight alive against an off-the-pace Magpies outfit; whether it is enough to avoid the drop today will be clear in the next three hours. At full-time at St James' Park, it finishes Newcastle United 0-1 West Bromwich Albion.

95'

Livermore puts a tricky cross in for Robson-Kanu and it runs wide to the left. Newcastle can't create one last counter however; the referee blows for full-time and West Brom keep their Premier League survival hopes alive!

94'

Substitution José Salomón Rondón Giménez Hal Robson-Kanu

93'

Kenedy clips a cross in for Joselu; Dawson darts in to clear with impressive speed. It's a matter of seconds now for the Baggies.

92'

Rondon wins a free-kick for West Brom 35 yards out on the left; Brunt plays it short to Gibbs and the Baggies try to hold it away from the Newcastle half and any danger of an equaliser.

90'

Substitution James McClean Jonny Evans

87'

Kenedy goes from distance, trying his luck from 25 yards out on the left; he pulls it wide at the near post, leaving Foster with a goal-kick.

85'

Joselu! Newcastle should be on level pegging as the substitute fails to bundle in a terrific cross at the far-right post. The Baggies are clutching onto this one-goal lead for dear life right now.

84'

Slimani again lays up a great chance with a header, this one for Joselu; West Brom intercept and Phillips takes it down the right flank away from danger.

82'

Yellow card James McClean

80'

Two close efforts from Ritchie see an eventual throw-in on the right for Newcastle; in back-play, unspotted by the officials, Slimani kicks Dawson after the latter appeared to land on the former's foot. Neither are booked and play continues.

78'

Substitution Ayoze Pérez Gutiérrez José Luis Sanmartín Mato

77'

Lejeune comes onto a deflected ball 25 yards out and blasts it towards the West Brom goal himself, hooking it well wide to the left in the end.

77'

Substitution Jay Rodriguez Grzegorz Krychowiak

It has been a fine showing from West Brom who have only had 37 percent of the ball throughout - but as Newcastle come forward through Slimani, they do look to be flagging. They need the full three points; any other result will relegate them.

74'

Shelvey's set-piece effort flies across the box to the left wing, where Kenedy steers it back in; Foster picks it out of the air at the right post and West Brom survive for the moment.

73'

Corner to Newcastle now as Diame's shot from 22 yards in front takes a deflection off McClean for a corner.

71'

Ritchie tries himself from 30 yards out now, on the left for Newcastle. It takes a deflection off Dawson and Diame's follow-up hits Hegazi to allow West Brom to clear.

69'

Brunt intercepts a poor Shelvey pass in midfield with Newcastle looking to attack and the Baggies captain goes for goal himself after a neat sidestep around the defence. He steers it wide to the right from 30 yards in the end; Dubravka is untroubled by the effort.

68'

Yellow card Mohamed Diamé

67'

Corner to West Brom now as Lejeune gets a foot to a Rodriguez ball down the left. The effort from Phillips to swing it in goes deep for Hegazi at the far-right post; he can only head it out for a goal-kick.

65'

Substitution Dwight Gayle Islam Slimani

64'

Free-kick to West Brom some 40 yards out on the left as Rondon is fouled. Brunt curls it in for Dawson; the ball falls behind the Baggies defender and skips out for Dubravka to return.

62'

Ritchie puts a 20-yard effort on from straight in front and sends it flying wide and high to the left. He appeals for a corner, claiming Brunt made a touch as he took the strike; the referee waves him down and gives West Brom the goal-kick.

61'

Rondon gets a half-chance on the left of the Newcastle box after Livermore intercepts a poor clearance from the hosts and plays him in; forced wide, his shot flies out some ten yards away from the near post.

60'

Rtichie tries to guide a header in at the near-left post; Nyom pops up to deflect it safely into the arms of Foster.

58'

Substitution Paul Dummett Jacob Murphy

57'

Perez tries to dribble around Hegazi just inside the Baggies penalty area; he runs afoul of the defender's little poke in and loses the ball in the process.

55'

A spell of pressure on the West Brom defence sees Nyom and Dawson combine to stop a header from Lejeune and then the Baggies win a free-kick through Gibbs just inside their own half.

53'

Rodriguez! Oh, that was a perfect set-up again - and once more, the striker can't get a clean strike to the ball. McClean cross flat from the left wing, and finds Phillips who heads down the forward behind Yedlin; the attempted volley is tragically poor in the end and Newcastle clear.

52'

Perez and Kenedy combine with a speedy break down the left flank; the latter's shot in from the edge of the box is cleared by Dawson.

50'

The Baggies play it back through Brunt and Hegazi under pressure from Gayle; Foster pumps it deep again to see off any immediate danger from the chasing Magpies striker.

48'

Shelvey tries to turn in a Ritchie ball floated in from the right wing at the near-post, but his touch is heavy and he steers his effort wide for a goal-kick.

47'

Rodriguez lobs a long cross from the left wing inside looking for Phillips; the wind catches the ball instead and the goalscorer can't keep it in, conceding a throw-in out wide on the right.

46'

We're back underway at St James' Park; can West Brom hold onto their lead and with it three vital points - or will Newcastle condemn them to Championship life?

A Matt Phillips strike has given West Brom the lead in the North East - and keeps their dreams of Premier League survival alive. Newcastle have had their share of chances, including a late Dwight Gayle header steered away magnificently by Ben Foster; at the break however, the hosts trail to the team propping up the top flight; Half-time at St James' Park, it's Newcastle United 0-1 West Bromwich Albion.

Gayle has a chance for the Magpies; his header from a Perez cross in the centre of the box flies left of the goal to leave Foster untroubled.

41'

Foster puts a long ball downfield after West Brom win a defensive free-kick; Rondon steers himself too far forward and is pinged for offside as he collects.

39'

A couple of tired bodies up front for Newcastle; both Perez and Gayle appear to be carrying slight knocks, limping a little. Neither can get close to a plum Ritchie cross in time and Nyom cleans it up.

37'

Yellow card Jake Livermore

Off the post from Kenedy! That should have been the goal to level things from Newcastle; The winger flicks a flat inside pass to Perez who delightfully handles it and chips forward a return pass; in trying to tip it round Foster, the Brazilian sticks it into the right side of the woodwork and it trickles out wide.

31'

That's a well-earned goal for the Baggies; the trick now will be keeping their lead intact. No team has dropped as many points from a leading position as West Brom in the 2017-18 campaign; a whopping 26 so far this season.

Goal Matt Phillips

27'

Great chance for the Baggies! Phillips curls a cut-back in from the right flank under pressure and finds Rodriguez just inside the box; the forward's attempt to volley home is too weak though and Dubravka has no trouble cleaning up his shot.

25'

Rondon tries his luck from just outside the box on the right and sprays it across the face of the goal, his shot drifting out at the far-left post.

23'

Risky from Hegazi! The West Brom defender tries a header back to Foster in goal, and it goes perilously close to being intercepted by Gayle. The keeper gets there first and the Baggies can breathe easy for a moment.

22'

The Magpies play it short and despite their efforts through Kenedy, Phillips and Nyom combine to stall any chance of attack.

21'

It's been an evenly contested affair so far, though Newcastle have had the lion's share of chances. No goals yet, as the hosts get a free-kick on their right flank 45 yards out.

19'

Shelvey flicks a curling pass round for Perez near at the far-left post in the West Brom box; he can't steer it back in and Foster gets the goal-kick instead.

17'

Just the two goals in the last twenty games for Gayle too; both against Bournemouth in a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium in February.

16'

Gayle goes for goal from just outside the box, after a Perez cut-back off a Shelvey cross; the striker half-volleys it into the turf and the ball bounces to Foster.

14'

West Brom turn defensive for a brief spell, spreading the ball wide around the rear as they look to switch up their more direct attacking style of the opening quarter-hour so far.

12'

Rondon is the man who rises to clear and though Gayle comes in for a second chance, the visitors are able to sweep up play in a counter attack. McClean gets away down the left flank; just inside the box, he turns a shot in for the bottom-right corner that runs wide in front of the post and the pursuing Brunt.

11'

No chances inside the opening ten minutes for either side but the Magpies now win a corner as Gibbs is pressured out by Diame.

9'

A zippy passage of play follows from the Baggies and they open up a golden chance for Rondon in front of goal in the Newcastle box; to no avail in the end, as the striker wrestles for possession with Yedlin and concedes a defensive free-kick.

8'

Kenedy and Ritchie combine around the edge of the West Brom box, yet neither can find the way through and Brunt sweeps in to clear for a counter-attack.

6'

Gayle tries his luck from 40 yards out, with Foster off the goal-line; he steers it comfortably wide to the left to waste the chance.

5'

Instead of going for goal, Newcastle play it short to the left, where Shelvey turns it in for Gayle. The striker is locked in by the defence however and the Baggies clear their marks to put Rodriguez into space.

4'

Hegazi lumps a long ball forward looking for Rondon; Newcastle turn it around through Lascelles though who releases Perez down the left back into West Brom territory. The Magpies man wins a free-kick too, after Livermore clips him on the boot.

2'

An early free-kick won by Lascelles after McClean catches him on the back foot inside the Newcastle man's half.

1'

We're underway in the North East as West Brom go in search of Premier League survival! It's the hosts however who press first; they edge down the right through Yedlin and Ritchie before the Baggies check their advance and turn it back to halfway.

The teams are out at St James' Park and we're moments away from kick-off.

Daniel Sturridge has had a hand in eight goals in eight Premier League starts against Newcastle; if he plays and scores today, he will become the third player to score against Newcastle for four different Premier League teams, after Robbie Keane and Peter Crouch.

Matt Ritchie has scored in three of his last four Premier League home games for the Magpies, having failed to find the net in his previous 12 at St James’ Park this season.

Newcastle have lost just one of their last 15 home league matches against West Brom, a 3-2 defeat in December 2011; the Baggies conversely have failed to keep a clean sheet in league games at St James’ Park since a 3-0 win in September 1977.

Subs: Yacob, Krychowiak, Myhill, Burke, Evans, Sturridge, Robson-Kanu

WEST BROMWICH ALBION (4-4-1-1): Foster; Dawson, Nyom, Hegazi, Gibbs; McClean, Brunt, Livermore, Phillips; Rondon; Rodriguez

Subs: Manquillo, Murphy, Slimani, Hayden, Clark, Darlow, Joselu

NEWCASTLE UNITED (4-4-1-1): Dubravka; Dummett, Yedlin, Lejeune, Lascelles; Diame, Kenedy, Shelvey, Ritchie; Perez; Gayle

Team news now, and just the one change between the two starting XIs combined; Dwight Gayle starts up front for Newcastle in place of Islam Slimani. Daniel Sturridge, who was ineligible to play for West Brom against parent club Liverpool, is named on the bench for the Baggies.

Moore has earned five points from his three Premier League games in charge of West Brom so far, with a win and two draws; one more than Alan Pardew managed in his final 11 at the club before his departure, in a streak including nine losses. Indeed, the Baggies haven’t gone four league outings without defeat since a run of five matches in February 2017.

The visitors will fall to the Championship for the 2018-19 campaign if they fail to win at St James’ Park – and even with victory, may yet face the drop if Swansea come up with a win against Chelsea later today. If so, it will be their 10th top-flight relegation; only Birmingham and Leicester have gone down more.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of the 2017-18 Premier League as West Bromwich Albion travel to Newcastle United knowing only a win will keep their hopes of top-flight football alive next season. The Baggies have gone three unbeaten since caretaker Darren Moore took charge; can they stave off relegation for at least a few more hours against the Magpies? Kick-off is on the way.
