Commentary By @NUFC

That's all from us today folks, we hope you enjoyed the game!

The quality of Manchester United shone through in the second half, after Newcastle started the game as the better of the two teams and took the lead early on through Gayle. However, United rallied and goals from Martial and Smalling saw them lead 2-1 at the break. The hosts were then terrific in the second half, straight from the off and goals from Pogba and Lukaku extended their lead and made it a comfortable victory, to move back into second position in the table.

FULL-TIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 4-1 NEWCASTLE

That's the full-time whistle!

90'

There will be a minimum of three minutes added time played here.

90'

CHANCE UNITED! Ibrahimovic goes close to making it 5-1 with an acrobatic effort at the far post, but his strike his aimed straight at Elliot who makes a good stop. The resulting corner comes to nothing.

87'

After a terrific start to the game, Newcastle will be pleased with their start to the game and they have played well tonight. However, they have come undone by a brilliant comeback by Manchester United. The traveling supporters are still in fine voice here, cheering on their side until the final whistle.

85'

Next up for United is a Champions League game against Basel away from home on Wednesday evening, before they return to Old Trafford next Saturday to face Brighton. Meanwhile, Newcastle return to St James' Park and they will face Watford.

STAT: The Magpies have lost this fixture 84 times in all competitions, more than against any other side in their history.

61'

This has been a totally dominant second half performance by United, they have won almost every ball and look dangerous every time they go forward. Mourinho's half-time team talk has certainly had the desired effect.

59'

Newcastle try and break forward with a fast counter-attack from a United corner, however Valencia does well to cut out Shelvey's long ball forward and clear the danger for his side. The skipper is making his 300th appearance for United today and Nolberto Solano is the only South American with more appearances.

57'

It's all United now, they are controlling this game and are breaking forward at every opportunity, as Newcastle begin to sit deeper and deeper inside their own half. We could see a few more goals from the hosts here.

STAT: The Magpies have won one of their last six league games, drawing two and losing three, which has included their two most recent games before this game.

50'

CHANCE UNITED! Lukaku does brilliantly to pull the ball back from the byline to Martial who was positioned at the near post, he chests the ball down but then slices his effort wide of the Newcastle goal. An excellent opportunity to score, but the visitors can breathe a sigh of relief.

48'

Bright start here by United in the opening few minutes of the second half, with Martial getting forward down the left and looking to feed Lukaku in the box. Newcastle need to tighten up at the back, but they still look a threat going forward.

46'

The second half is underway!

Newcastle were excellent early on and took the lead through Dwight Gayle and showed a lot of attacking threat. However, United grew into the game and eventually equalised through Anthony Martial, before Chris Smalling gave the hosts the lead in injury time to complete the comeback.

44'

PENALTY SHOUT! United are furious that they haven't just been given a penalty after Clark and Lukaku grabble inside the penalty area. The Newcastle centre-back appears to have a handful of Lukaku's shirt, but the Belgian goes down far too easily and the referee waves away the protests.

44'

Shelvey fires a powerful shot at goal from around 30 yards out, but his effort is straight at De Gea who gets his body behind it and makes the save. Either side of the keeper and that would probably have rippled into the back of the net.

42'

STAT: Jose Mourinho's side have lost just two of their last three games in the Premier League, as many as in the previous 37 combined.

40'

Not long to go until the half-time whistle now, can the hosts put themselves into the lead ahead of the break? Or, will Newcastle show their attacking intent once again and take the lead once again?

37'

Assist Paul Pogba

Goal Anthony Martial

35'

Worry for Newcastle here as the Newcastle keeper, Elliot is down and receiving treatment from the physios following a collision with his own defender, he appeared to land awkwardly and he holding his knee, but is continuing for now.

34'

Gayle's goal here was the first goal that Manchester United have conceding at home this season, breaking their record of being the only side in the five major European leagues yet to concede a top-flight goal at home so far.

32'

We're past the half an hour mark here at Old Trafford and it remains one-nil to the visitors and they look fairly comfortable in truth, with Manchester United not creating too many chances and none that have tested Rob Elliot in the Newcastle goal so far.

30'

Rafael Benitez could become the first manager to win Premier League away games at Old Trafford with three different clubs, having done so with Liverpool and Chelsea.

28'

Paul Pogba is trying to dictate play here in the United midfield, the France international is looking to get on the ball at every opportunity and create opportunities. So far, Newcastle are doing a good job of keeping them out of their final third and just inside their half, where they can't realistically harm them.

26'

United have certainly seen more of the ball in the opening period of this game, but it is Newcastle who have had more of an attacking threat and have made their chance count in front of goal.

26'

United have certainly seen more of the ball in the opening period of this game, but it is Newcastle who have had more of an attacking threat and have made their chance count in front of goal.

24'

Ashley Young does brilliantly to beat Murphy deep inside the Newcastle half and work space for a cross into a packed penalty area, however, his final ball is poor and overhit so Newcastle can clear for now.

22'

We have a brief stoppage in play here as Gayle is down receiving treatment following a clash with teammate Matt Richie inside the United penalty area. Both players went up for a cross that came into the area and Richie appeared to land straight onto the striker. It looks like he should be fine to continue.

21'

STATS: After scoring 11 goals in his first 10 games for Manchester United, Romelu Lukaku has gone seven games without a goal, registering just five shots on target in this period. However, Lukaku loves playing against Newcastle and has been involved in nine goals in eight Premier League appearances against them.

19'

CHANCE NEWCASTLE! Murphy once again with the chance, he got the better of Chris Smalling and used his pace to get away from the centre-back. The winger then fired a low shot at goal but he dragged it just inches wide of the post, very close!

18'

Jacob Murphy tries his luck from long-range after a Newcaslte counter-attack, the winger had teammates screaming for the ball and they were perhaps in better positions, but he choose to cut inside and go for goal himself, but De Gea wasn't troubled and made a comfortable save.

17'

United look a bit shell-shocked by that Newcastle goal, but the visitors had started the game well and sloppy defending has allowed them to capitalise. The traveling supporters are in fine voice now, delighted by their sides performance.

Assist DeAndre Yedlin

Newcastle have started the game brightly as well, they are playing the ball around the pitch well and are playing a high pressing game to deny their opponents much space when they do get on the ball. The visitors have consecutive corners, with the latter set piece met by Ciaran Clark, but his header goes high and wide of David De Gea's goal.

7'

CHANCE UNITED! Marcus Rashford wins a soft free-kick deep in the Newcastle half, which United take quickly with Rashford releasing Antonio Valencia down the right-wing, he then plays a beautiful ball into the box looking for Romelu Lukaku who gets on the end of it, but he skies his shot over the bar! Great opportunity early on.

6'

Head-to-head: Manchester United have lost just one of their last 32 league games against Newcastle at Old Trafford. winning 22 and drawing nine, with the sole defeat coming back in December 2013 when Yohan Cabaye scored the only goal in that game.

4'

Both sides are struggling to settle into the big, with possession switching from either side after a handful of passes, neither team are able to string together a good piece of play so far.

2'

Man United started today in second spot in the Premier League, however, Chelsea's 4-0 victory over West Brom as seen the Blues move above United into second spot. A win over Newcastle would see them regain that spot, but they'd still be eight points behind Manchester City who sit top.

We're underway!

The teams are out here at Old Trafford and kick-off is just moments away! Stay tuned for all of the match action.

The team news is in at Old Trafford, here is how the two sides will line-up this evening...

One player who is unlikely to feature for the hosts is Phil Jones as he suffered a thigh injury while on international duty with England, while Michael Carrick is also a doubt with a calf strain. Meanwhile for Newcastle, Benitez, will be unable to call upon his captain Jamaal Lascelles, as well as Christian Atsu, Mikel Merino and Paul Dummett.

Newcastle approach the game in poor form having suffered consecutive 1-0 defeats to Burnley and Bournemouth in the Premier League, and have picked up just one win in their last six league matches, which has seen them drop to 11th position in the table.

United come into the game after suffering a one-nil defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge before the international break, however, they remain second in the table behind Manchester City.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba are in contention to play for Manchester United against Newcastle tonight, after overcoming long-term injuries. Ibrahimovic suffered the injury during United's Europa League quarter-final tie against Anderlecht in April, and was released from his contract at the end of last season before re-signing on a new one-year deal in August.
