Commentary By @NUFC
Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Burnley secure an important win this evening as Jeff Hendrick scores the only goal of the game to guide them to the three points against Newcastle. The Clarets produced the one moment of quality in the contest as they opened up the visitors when Jack Cork raided through their defensive line. His effort was saved by Johann Berg Gudmundsson gathered the rebound to pick out Hendrick at the back post to convert the only goal of the game. Newcastle pressed late on and Nick Pope had to make a good save to deny Issac Hayden, but the Clarets were able to hold out for their second home win of the campaign.
FULL-TIME: BURNLEY 1-0 NEWCASTLE
The referee ends the contest.
OVER! Elliot comes forward from the resulting corner. Shelvey's first delivery is cleared, but the second finds Manquillo at the near post. The Spaniard loops his header towards goal, but it sails over the bar on the roof of the net. Relief for the home side.
SAVE! Pope makes a brilliant save to deny Hayden from distance. The midfielder struck his effort hard on the half-volley, but the keeper dived to his right to palm the ball behind for a corner. An excellent stop from Pope.
Barnes wins a good header on the edge of the box, but before Hendrick can shoot, Hayden takes the ball from the midfielder.
There will be three minutes of added time.
SAVE! Barnes combines with Hendrick in the final third and he receives the return ball to fire at goal, but he is denied by a good save from Elliot. The Newcastle keeper also pushes the ball far enough away from goal to stop Gudmundsson latching onto the rebound.
Mee makes an important intevention at the back to stop Lascelles' long ball forward from finding Gayle. The defender made a crucial touch on the edge of the box to break up the attack.
SAVE! Newcastle probe at the Burnley backline and Westwood is forced into a hurried clearance. Shelvey seizes on the ball on the edge of the box and goes for the drive, but his effort is saved by Pope.
Hendrick makes a run to latch on to Barnes' knockdown in the final third, but he fails to take the ball in stride in a good position.
Substitution Mohamed Diamé Dwight Gayle
CLOSE! Yedlin wins the ball in an advanced position down the right and he feeds Joselu on the edge of the box. The Spaniard turns and shoots towards the bottom corner, but his effort goes inches past the post. That was a close call for the home side in their bid to secure the three points.
Lowton plays the ball in behind the Newcastle backline, but Hendrick's lay off back to Westwood goes astray and allows the Magpies to get men back behind the ball with possession.
Substitution Matt Ritchie Jacob Murphy
PENALTY SHOUT! Joselu gathers Shelvey's free-kick on the edge of the box and he goes for the strike, but Mee makes the block. There are muted appeals from the Magpies for handball, but referee Dean is not convinced.

WIDE! Brady's low ball into the box is deflected out by Diame to Cork 30 yards from goal. He goes for the strike on the half-volley, but his effort sails wide of the post. It appeared to take a deflection of Lejeune, only for the referee to award a goal-kick.
Brady sends the resulting corner into the box, but the visitors clear the danger from the near post with ease as Atsu heads the ball away from danger.
OVER! Brady passes up the option to slide in Ward down the left flank and instead tees up Defour for a strike. However, Atsu deflects his strike over the bar.Â
Brady has space down the left flank and he tries to send a cross to the near post, but Elliot gathers with ease.
Lascelles brings down Barnes just inside the Newcastle half, but Brady's free-kick is cleared by Yedlin after Tarkowski wins the initial header from the cross.
The home side are showing better intent than the first period, but their quality in the key areas of the pitch has not been good enough.
Yellow card Jack Cork
Burnley string a series of passes together, but the move comes to an end as Hendrick is caught offside on the left flank - not for the first time this evening.
Lowton carves out space for a cross from the right flank, but his ball into the area just goes over the head of Brady at the back post.
Burnley spurn an opening down the left as Barnes goes back towards Ward following a break. Hendrick's pass to the full-back then goes straight out for a goal-kick. The home side are struggling to click in the final third.
Joselu is caught late in a sensitve area by Pope from the clearance and has to take a slight break before continuing this evening.
Pope has to be careful at the back as Joselu almost closes him down when trying to clear the ball, but the keeper gets his clearance away in time.
BLOCK! Shelvey surges forward to the edge of the box and he lines up a strike on his left foot, but his strike is blocked by a wall of claret shirts.
SAVE! Brady floats a cross into the box from a free-kick from the right and Tarkowski gets above two black and white shirts in the box, only to head his effort straight at Elliot.
SAVE! Joselu steers the ball into the path of Perez on the edge of the box and he goes for the strike. His effort is curling towards the bottom corner, but Pope makes a fine save to turn the ball past the post. The first clear-cut opening for either side.
The Clarets win the ball back and Cork sends the ball into the box for Hendrick at the back post, but the midfielder is caught offside.
Diame brings down Cork and the referee wins a free-kick. The ball is sent long by Pope, but the Magpies are organised at the back and clear the danger.
We're underway again at Turf Moor.
The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway shortly.
It's goalless at the break at Turf Moor between Burnley and Newcastle in a game of few chances. The Magpies perhaps made the best opening of the game, only for Christian Atsu to fire over the bar following a corner. Sean Dyche's men threatened from a couple of crosses into the box, but neither team has been able to conjure a moment of magic to break the deadlock.Â
HALF-TIME: BURNLEY 0-0 NEWCASTLE
The referee ends the first half.
Yellow card Johann Berg GuĂ°mundsÂson
There will be one minute of added time.
BLOCK! Gudmundsson passes up the opportunity to shoot first time from the right inside channel and sees his eventual effort blocked. Newcastle break forward from the ricochet and the home side have to run back into position.
Yedlin has space down the right to fire in a cross, but he sends his delivery straight into the arms of Pope. Again the final ball is the issue for the Magpies.
Newcastle are finding their rhythm once again to end the half. Benitez will be desperate for his side to strike before the interval to take control of the match.
BLOCK! Atsu latches on to Perez's pass on the edge of the box and strikes first time with his left foot, but Lowton puts his body on the line to make the block.
Ritchie has space to attack down the right, but he wastes the opening by placing his cross behind the run of Joselu and out for a Burnley throw-in on the left flank.
Ritchie sends a ball over the top for Perez's run, but the Spaniard is offside as he goes to make contact down the right flank, although Pope had the danger covered anyway.
The passing from both teams in the final third has lacked quality. Ward plays a loose pass back to Brady, which spoils an opening down the left for the home side.
Hendrick and Diame clash heads just inside the Newcastle half and the game is stopped as the Burnley man receives treatment.
WIDE! Brady raids down the left flank and he hits an early cross into the box. Yedlin make a poor attempt at a clearing header as the ball skims off the top of his head. Barnes nods the ball towards the bottom corner in the box, but his effort trickles wide of the post.
The home side are edging their way back into the match, but their final ball has to improve as Barnes wastes an opening to pick out Lowton on the right.
CLOSE! Brady almost catches Elliot out with a lobbed effort from the edge of the box, but the keeper recovers in time to set himself and catch the ball on the line. A good idea from the Republic of Ireland international.
The Clarets win a free-kick and Brady's cross is diverted over the heads of the Newcastle backline by Mee, but as Tarkowski goes for the follow-up, he is flagged offside.
Joselu goes down following a challenge from Brady, but the visitors waste the free-kick as Shelvey gifts back possession to Dyche's men with a loose pass.
The Clarets build down the left and Ward has space to dig out a cross, but it's an easy claim for Elliot in the middle.
Both teams are solid in their defensive play, but are lacking that decisive pass in their attacking play. It's a chess match between Dyche and Benitez at the moment.
Newcastle are starting to control the game in the middle of the park, but are not finding Joselu in the final third. They need to do more to bring the Spaniard into the match.
SAVE! Atsu weaves his way down the left flank before sending the ball to the edge of the box for Shelvey to strike. The midfielder shoots with power, but Pope is able to make a solid stop, catching the ball in the process.
Atsu makes a run between the two Burnley centre-backs and Perez tries to release him through on goal, but the ball trickles through to Pope.

Yedlin latches on to Shelvey's ball over the top, but the American's low cross into the area is cleared by Tarkowski. The full-back collects to send another delivery into the area, but Pope comes off his line to claim.

Lowton has space to whip a dangerous cross into the box from the right flank, but Elliot gathers the ball in his six-yard area with a comfortable claim. Burnley are sending crosses into the box at every opportunity.
OVER! Atsu raids down the right flank and wins a corner for the visitors. From the resulting cross, Diame flicks the ball on and Cork's failed clearance falls to Atsu. The winger goes for the strike, but sends his effort over the bar.
Newcastle have been penned back in their own half in the early stages and need to stem the tide to get a footing in the match.
Mee flicks Brady's long ball into the box forward for Hendrick. He lifts a dangerous ball to the back post that Elliot somehow manages to send behind and away from Barnes, despite missing the ball with his fist.
The Magpies keep on giving away cheap free-kicks and Burnley will test their defensive resilience by sending the ball long into the box again.

Newcastle clear their lines from Brady's second delivery and Gudmundsson collects to lift back into the area again, but his cross is claimed with ease by Elliot.
Defour makes a run down the right flank and he wins a corner off the legs of Manquillo. Brady will have the chance to send a corner into the box.
WIDE! Brady loops the ball into the box and Hendrick rises to head at goal, but his effort takes a deflection off Shelvey and heads wide.
Defour makes a run down the right flank and he wins a corner off the legs of Manquillo. Brady will have the chance to send a corner into the box.
Cork wins the ball down the right and he drives down the flank before whipping the ball into the box, but it's just a fraction too high for Barnes to make contact in the middle.

The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.
Newcastle have been impressive since their tough start to the campaign. Since their defeat at the hands of Huddersfield in the second week of the campaign, the Magpies have lost just one of their last seven matches. They reeled off three wins on the bounce to move into the top half during September and have been solid since. Rafael Benitez's men are unbeaten in their last three matches, including their late win over Crystal Palace last time out.
Burnley's run of solid form in the Premier League came to an end last time out against Manchester City, with Pep Guardiola's men putting three goals past the Clarets at the Etihad Stadium. Sean Dyche's men entered that contest with a six-match unbeaten run, including an impressive win on the road against Everton. However, Burnley's home has been indifferent and Dyche will be desperate for his side to avoid drawing a third game on the bounce at Turf Moor following their stalemates with Huddersfield and West Ham.
