Thanks for joining our commentary this afternoon. Until next time, goodbye.

Brighton earn a valuable win at home to Newcastle - their second victory at the Amex Stadium on the spin. Tomer Hemed's goal was the difference between the two sides as he converted from close range early in the second half. The Magpies put the pressure on late, but struggled to carve out clear-cut openings as Chris Hughton's men defended well at the back to hold out for the three points.

Yellow card Shane Duffy

75'

Brighton are siting back here and are allowing the visitors to drive on to them. A change may be needed by Hughton to reverse the momentum.

73'

OFF THE POST! Shelvey almost scores straight from the corner as he whips the ball towards the near post, but it clatters off the woodwork and bounces clear. Ryan may have had that covered.

Shelvey sends the ball long into the box for Gayle's run, forcing Duffy to head behind for a Newcastle corner.

71'

Substitution José Luis Sanmartín Mato Dwight Gayle

71'

Yedlin and Perez down the right flank, but the Spaniard is unable to keep the ball in play on the byline under pressure from Propper.

70'

Newcastle are edging back into the contest, but their lack of quality in the final third has prevented them from testing Ryan as of yet.

68'

Substitution Isaac Hayden Jonjo Shelvey

68'

Dunk misplaces a simple pass and it allows Newcastle to steal possession. Ritchie collects 30 yards from goal, but he pulls his effort well wide of the post.

65'

Duffy comes forward from the back to attack Bruno's long throw into the box from the right, but he loops his header straight into Elliot's hands.

58'

The Seagulls have been dominant in the second half and have forced the issue to send the Magpies back towards their own box.

56'

OFF THE LINE! Brighton open up the visitors down the right flank as Knockaert releases Bruno. He powers the ball across the face of goal and March reaches at the back post to steer his effort towards the net. However, Elliot does brilliantly to stick out his foot to stop the ball travelling over the line.

46'

We're back underway at the Amex Stadium.

The players are back out for the second half, so we should be underway again shortly.

It's goalless at the break at the Amex Stadium. Newcastle may have the best chances of the first half as Joselu fired wide of the post, while Ayoze Perez blazed an effort over the bar. Brighton have come close through Pascal Gross, who saw his effort blocked on the line by his team-mate Anthony Knockaert. However, the game is crying out for an increase in quality in the final third in the second half.

Atsu raids down the left flank and fires a low ball into the box. Duffy takes a wild swing to clear, but the ball smashes off Bruno and goes behind for a corner.

22'

MISS! Newcastle should be ahead, but Joselu misses a sitter from close range. Perez's cross was deflected into his path inside the box, but after turning well he could only put his left-footed effort wide of the post.

20'

Brighton are having success down the left flank and Suttner advances into space, but sends his cross behind for a goal-kick. The Seagulls just need to find that clinical edge in the final third.

19'

Knockaert has space on the left and he tries to whip the ball with power towards the net, but he slices his effort out for a Newcastle throw-in.

16'

March has space down the left once again and he sends a low cross into the box, but this one is more straight forward for Elliot to gather.

15'

SAVE! March collects the ball on the left and he curls a cross into the box. It bounces into the six-yard box, but Hemed fails to gamble. The effort still forces Elliot into a making a fine save as the trajectory of the ball was heading towards the bottom corner.

13'

Yellow card Anthony Knockaert

11'

BLOCK! Knockaert opens up the Newcastle defence and sends a ball out wide to March. He drills the ball low into the box and it falls kindly for Gross to volley at goal. He makes a sweet connection on his strike, but it's blocked by his own team-mate Knockaert. Unlucky for the home side.

9'

Ritchie has time to send a low ball into the box, but neither Perez nor Joselu are able to collect it, allowing the ball to trickle out for a goal-kick.

7'

Knockaert and Gross combine in the Newcastle half to tee up Hemed for a strike, but the forward can only drill his effort straight at Elliot.

6'

Hemed makes a move to the near post to head March's cross from the left at goal, but he can only guide his effort over the bar.

5'

SCRAMBLE! March wins a corner for the home side and from the resulting cross there's a scramble in the six-yard box, but Hemed cannot register an effort at goal before the Magpies clear their lines.

3'

Hemed tries to turn his man in the box, but Clark remains on his feet and the Brighton forward loses control to allow Elliot to gather.

2'

SAVE! Duffy has to head behind Ritchie's delivery and from the resulting corner, Merino latches on to the loose ball on the edge of the box. The Spaniard strikes into the ground, but Ryan spreads himself down to his right to make the stop.

1'

Joselu is clattered from behind in the early stages of the game by Duffy. He wins Newcastle a free-kick in the Brighton half.

1'

We're underway at the Amex Stadium.

The players are out on the pitch, so we should be underway shortly.

STAT ATTACK! Should Lascelles score today he will become only the second Newcastle defender to score in three consecutive three Premier League matches.

FLASHBACK! Newcastle recorded a 2-1 win over Brighton in their meeting in the Championship last season. Glenn Murray put the Seagulls ahead from the penalty spot, but late strikes from Mohamed Diame and Ayoze Perez secure the win for Benitez's men.

Newcastle are unchanged from their win over Stoke last week. Benitez has resisted the opportunity to recall Jonjo Shelvey to the line-up, keeping faith with Mikel Merino and Issac Hayden in the middle of the park.

Brighton have made one change to their side from their defeat to Bournemouth last week. Bruno is restored to the side in place of Liam Rosenior at right-back, while Hemed continues to lead the line supported by Gross.

Newcastle subs: Murphy, Shelvey, Gayle, Diame, Manquillo, Darlow, Gamez.

NEWCASTLE (4-2-3-1): Elliot; Yedlin, Lascelles, Clark, Mbemba; Merino, Hayden; Ritchie, Perez, Atsu; Joselu.

Brighton subs: Krul, Hunemeier, Murphy, Izquierdo, Schelotto, Rosenior, Brown.

BRIGHTON (4-4-1-1): Ryan; Bruno, Duffy, Dunk, Suttner; Knockaert, Stephens, Propper, March; Gross, Hemed.

The team news has been announced and we'll start with the home side.

Captain Jamaal Lascelles has developed into an important player for the Magpies. He scored the decisive goal against Swansea. He continued his goal-scoring efforts against Stoke last week  by scoring another winner. The defender could be in line for another vital display this afternoon.

After losing their opening two matches of the season, Newcastle have bounced back brilliantly. The Magpies ended their losing run against West Ham, defeating the Hammers 3-0 at St James' Park. They have backed up their efforts since by beating Swansea on the road and then recording a 2-1 win over Stoke City last time out on home soil.

However, the Seagulls were unable to build on their win, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth last time out in the Premier League. They lost to the Cherries for the second game on the bounce at Dean Court in the League Cup during the week. Hughton's men need to get back to winning ways against his former team.

Brighton recorded their first win of the season in their last home match, defeating West Brom 3-1. Pascal Gross scored a brace to fire Chris Hughton's men to the three points, while Tomer Hemed also got on the scoresheet.

Good afternoon and welcome to the live commentary of the Premier League clash between Brighton and Newcastle United at the Amex Stadium.
