March beats Yedlin with a neat piece of skill down the flank and he sends a low cross into the box, but Clark is on hand to clear the danger.

CHANCE! Yedlin raids into space down the right and sends a cross into the back post. Shelvey and Gayle lose their battles to head at goal and it travels to Atsu at the back post, but he scuffs his effort into the ground.

OVER! Shelvey strikes his effort over the wall, but he sends his strike over the bar.

Brighton are siting back here and are allowing the visitors to drive on to them. A change may be needed by Hughton to reverse the momentum.

OFF THE POST! Shelvey almost scores straight from the corner as he whips the ball towards the near post, but it clatters off the woodwork and bounces clear. Ryan may have had that covered.

Ritchie is caught on the edge of the area by Suttner and Newcastle are awarded a free-kick in a dangerous position.

Ritchie sends the ball in low to the box, but Duffy tracks the run of Joselu into the area and makes a good sliding challenge to stop the strike.

Clark gives the ball away on the edge of his own box, but he atones for his mistake as he steers Bruno's cross away from Gross in the middle.

Suttner has to be alert at the back this time as Atsu cuts the ball back across the box, but the left-back diverts the ball away from Ritchie.

Newcastle probe on the edge of the box, but Bruno watches the run of Atsu carefullly and wins a goal-kick for his team.

SAVE! Ritchie goes for the strike, but his effort is saved comfortably by Ryan. Both sides have lacked the quality needed to break the deadlock this afternoon.

MISS! Newcastle should be ahead, but Joselu misses a sitter from close range. Perez's cross was deflected into his path inside the box, but after turning well he could only put his left-footed effort wide of the post.

Brighton are having success down the left flank and Suttner advances into space, but sends his cross behind for a goal-kick. The Seagulls just need to find that clinical edge in the final third.

Knockaert has space on the left and he tries to whip the ball with power towards the net, but he slices his effort out for a Newcastle throw-in.

March has space down the left once again and he sends a low cross into the box, but this one is more straight forward for Elliot to gather.

SAVE! March collects the ball on the left and he curls a cross into the box. It bounces into the six-yard box, but Hemed fails to gamble. The effort still forces Elliot into a making a fine save as the trajectory of the ball was heading towards the bottom corner.

BLOCK! Knockaert opens up the Newcastle defence and sends a ball out wide to March. He drills the ball low into the box and it falls kindly for Gross to volley at goal. He makes a sweet connection on his strike, but it's blocked by his own team-mate Knockaert. Unlucky for the home side.

Ritchie has time to send a low ball into the box, but neither Perez nor Joselu are able to collect it, allowing the ball to trickle out for a goal-kick.

Knockaert and Gross combine in the Newcastle half to tee up Hemed for a strike, but the forward can only drill his effort straight at Elliot.

Hemed makes a move to the near post to head March's cross from the left at goal, but he can only guide his effort over the bar.

SCRAMBLE! March wins a corner for the home side and from the resulting cross there's a scramble in the six-yard box, but Hemed cannot register an effort at goal before the Magpies clear their lines.

Hemed tries to turn his man in the box, but Clark remains on his feet and the Brighton forward loses control to allow Elliot to gather.

SAVE! Duffy has to head behind Ritchie's delivery and from the resulting corner, Merino latches on to the loose ball on the edge of the box. The Spaniard strikes into the ground, but Ryan spreads himself down to his right to make the stop.

Joselu is clattered from behind in the early stages of the game by Duffy. He wins Newcastle a free-kick in the Brighton half.
