Shola Ameobi

Years at United: 2000-2014

Born in Nigeria but brought up just yards from St. James' Park, Shola Ameobi progressed through the youth ranks on Tyneside before going on to score 79 goals in 397 appearances for his boyhood club.

A cult hero on Tyneside for his personality, loyalty to Newcastle United and tendency to score against North East rivals Sunderland, Shola continues to play professionally for Notts County and is a Newcastle United Foundation patron.

The 6ft 3in striker made his senior debut for the Magpies against Chelsea in 2000 and he would go on to be a firm fixture in the United dressing room for the following 13 seasons.

Shola was inducted into the Newcastle United Foundation Hall of Fame on 7th November 2017.
