Rob Lee
Years at United: 1992 - 2002
London-born but with North East ancestry, Rob Lee joined Newcastle United in 1992 and would go on to become one of Kevin Keegan's greatest signings.
A goalscoring midfielder, Lee began his career in the capital with Charlton Athletic before a reported £700,000 move saw him arrive on Tyneside - a deal which partly facilitated the Addicks' move back to The Valley after a period in exile at Selhurst Park and Upton Park.
After joining midway through the 1992/93 season, he helped the Magpies to promotion to the newly-formed Premier League, where they would achieve a third-place finish and qualification for the UEFA Cup.
In the club's first European match in 17 years, Lee scored a hat-trick as Newcastle United beat Royal Antwerp 5-0 in Belgium.
His importance to the team would continue to grow and Lee became a mainstay of the Entertainers Era which saw Keegan's side finishing as back-to-back Premier League runners-up.
Named captain under Kenny Dalglish in 1997 but dropped by successor Ruud Gullit, Lee was restored to the side by Sir Bobby Robson before his time on Tyneside came to an end after ten years.
His testimonial saw Athletic Bilbao visit St. James' Park in 2001, before his final goal for the club came in a 4-3 victory over Manchester United on home turf.
Lee joined Derby County in 2002 and had spells with West Ham United, Oldham Athletic and Wycombe Wanderers before retiring aged 40.
