Haidara A Doubt For Red Devils Clash

Written by Newcastle Utd

Left-back set to miss out against Manchester United - but key trio set to return to action soon

Louis van Gaal's Manchester United are the visitors to St. James' Park on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm) amid a host of injury problems for the Magpies.

Head Coach John Carver said Massadio Haidara will almost certainly not feature against the Red Devils after being stretchered off against Aston Villa on Saturday.

But Carver also revealed the good news that Rolando Aarons, Remy Cabella and Rob Elliot will all be returning in the near future.

"Massadio Haidara, who we thought would be available, has got some slight fluid on his knee," explained Carver.

"He's been for an injection this morning and so he's almost certainly not going to be available tomorrow night, but hopefully it settles down in time for Everton.

"Injuries are always a concern and sometimes it's the soft tissue injuries which are the bigger concern.

"We've got a number of players who have been out for a while that are now coming back but we've got to look after those as well."

He added: "You can make excuses but I'm prepared to work with whoever I have available. You just have to get on with it.

"Rolando Aarons will be joining us again at the end of next week which is great. Whether it will be in enough time for the Everton game only time will tell.

"Just the fact that he's coming back training is great news. Rob Elliot hasn't been available at all since I've been in charge but he'll be coming back too.

"Remy Cabella will also be back for the start of next week so that's three very big positives for us.

"I'll look on the positive side that next week I have three very important players coming back to me who can make a difference."
