Newcastle United have appointed Dave Billows as the Club's new Head of Fitness.

Billows has a wealth of experience in the Barclays Premier League, having spent 13 years working at Everton - ten of those with the Toffees' first team.

The 50-year-old has also worked with boxer Tony Bellew, who is the current WBO International Cruiserweight champion, and has experience in athletics, rugby, motorsport and mixed martial arts during a 25-year career in the industry.

Billows said: "I'm delighted to be here at Newcastle. It is a great Club with a very good set-up.

"As soon as the opportunity arose to join Newcastle it was a very easy decision to make.

"I can bring a lot of experience to the role, having worked at Premier League level for a long time, and also have a wide range of knowledge across a host of elite-level sports.

"There are some fantastic players here and my role will be to make sure they are at the peak of their fitness, injury-free and available for selection by the manager throughout the season."

Simon Tweddle remains Senior Fitness Coach for the Club.

Tweddle will focus on the fitness, strength and conditioning strategy of the Under-21 squad and will manage and oversee the Academy's fitness, strength and conditioning department and programme.
