Born in Sunderland, Ben has developed as a highly promising player in black and white and was called up for the England under-16 squad for the Nordic Tournament in the summer of 2013, just weeks after signing as a scholar for Newcastle.

The former Monkwearmouth School pupil has been with United since the age of 11 and used to play for Town End Farm. He made a handful of under-18 appearances during the 2012/13 season while still a schoolboy and continued to impress last season in his first term as a scholar.

A central midfielder who can also play at right-back, Ben loves watching Manchester United's Geordie boy Michael Carrick in action and enjoys fishing.
