Name: Jonathan Mitchell
Born: 24th November 1994, Hartlepool
Height: 1.80m (5ft 11ins)
Weight: 13.8 stone
Under-18s debut: 26th April, 2011 v Barnsley (home), Premier Academy League
Made his Reserve team debut against Manchester City on January 26, 2011 while still at school, and although Newcastle lost 5-1 he put in an excellent display. He also travelled with the Development Squad to Italy for the Torneo di Viareggio in February 2011, providing back-up to Ole Soderberg.
Unusually, his under-18s bow didn't come until April that year, when he kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Barnsley. He had, however, shared goalkeeping duties with Aidan Grant for the under-16s throughout the 2010/11 season.
An admirer of Oliver Khan and Kasper Schmeichel, Mitchell is a big Hartlepool United fan and still gets down to Victoria Park when he can.
The former High Tunstall College of Science pupil captained his Hartlepool school in rugby before deciding to concentrate on football, and became a first-year scholar at the Academy in the summer of 2011. He will benefit from the guidance of Academy keeper coach Chris Terpcou.
Spent time on loan at Workington in 2012/13.
