Newcastle v QPR: Ryan Taylor Starts

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

At St. James' Park

Ryan Taylor starts a Barclays Premier League fixture for the first time in 32 months, as Newcastle United entertain Queens Park Rangers at St. James' Park 93pm kick-off).

The versatile midfielder has only recently returned to full fitness following successive cruciate ligament injuries, and has appeared twice so far this season - at Manchester City in the Capital One Cup, and as a substitute last time out at West Bromwich Albion.

But this is Taylor's first top flight start since 4th March, 2012, when the Magpies recorded a 1-1 home draw against local rivals Sunderland.

Taylor's inclusion is one of two enforced changes made by manager Alan Pardew, with centre-back Mike Williamson also returning to the starting line-up. The pair replace injured duo Fabricio Coloccini and Mehdi Abeid.

As they go in search of a sixth successive win in all competitions, United are expected to keep faith with the 4-3-3 formation which has served them so well.

Goalkeeper Tim Krul will be protected by a back four of Daryl Janmaat, Williamson, Paul Dummett and Massadio Haidara.

French powerhouse Moussa Sissoko will captain Newcastle in the absence of Coloccini and joins Taylor and Jack Colback in a midfield trio.

And in the final third, Remy Cabella and Sammy Ameobi take up roles on the flanks, either side of Spanish striker Ayoze Perez, who has three goals in his last three games.

On the substitutes' bench there is a place for 20-year-old central defender Remie Streete, who is yet to make a senior first team appearance, and he is joined by Facundo Ferreyra, Papiss Cisse, Adam Armstrong, Yoan Gouffran, Vurnon Anita and Rob Elliot.
