Barclays Premier League

Everton 3 (Lukaku 5, 37, Barkley 25)
Newcastle United 2 (Cabaye 51, Remy)
SECOND HALF UPDATES
90+4mins: After Deulofeu is denied by Krul, it's over and despite a second-half comeback, Newcastle just couldn't overturn a 3-0 half-time defecit at Goodison Park. Yohan Cabaye's scorcher and Loic Remy's strike threatened to give United an unlikely point but the Toffees stuck in to claim the victory. Click here for the report.
90+3mins: After a spot of pinball in the Blues' box, Remy unleashes a half-volley which flies inches over the bar - that was close from the striker but maybe that's United's last chance.
90mins: There will be four minutes of stoppage time. Everton make their third change as young defender John Stones replaces midfielder Osman.
89mins - NEWCASTLE GOAL (3-2): Loic Remy takes advantage of some poor Everton defending to set up a thrilling climax. The Frenchman stabbed home after Debuchy headed the ball into the danger zone and suddenly the comeback could just be on.
88mins: Ross Barkley comes off to a standing ovation, with Steven Naismith on in his place.
86mins: The quicksilver Deulofeu races down the left and Krul does well to keep out his strike.
85mins: A Cabaye free-kick from a good position hits the wall - if that had gone in, the final few minutes would have been very interesting.
81mins: Substitute Deulofeu shows great pace to get in a shot on the right-hand side of the box and then as the ball cannons around the area, Baines shoots from the left but drags his effort wide.
80mins: Barry is booked for a clumsy foul on Tiote near the halfway line. Krul pumps the ball into the box where Williamson flicks it on and eventually the ball falls to Tiote 25 yards from goal. His low shot is on target but fails to trouble Howard.
78mins: Baines gets the chance to strike one of his trademark free-kicks after a Fabricio Coloccini foul but he sends it over the bar - not one of his better efforts.
76mins: Barkley shoots well wide after some more neat Everton build-up. It was a nice move but an ugly finish from the otherwise excellent youngster.
73mins: Roberto Martinez makes his first substitution of the night as he replaces Mirallas with Gerard Deulofeu.
67mins: Lukaku, who has been much quieter since Williamson came on, gets in a shot on the turn but Krul gathers easily, then Duffy tees up the striker who balloons over the bar and still some hope remains for Newcastle - but they need another goal soon.
58mins: Gouffran picks the pocket of Duffy on the left and scampers into the box but sends his shot into the side-netting.
57mins: Anita wins a 50-50 with Gareth Barry on the edge of the box before firing in a shot which Howard is pleased to hold onto. Suddenly United look a lot more determined, the fans are more vocal and if they could get another goal back, who knows?
55mins: Now Barkley plays the ball into the feet of Leon Osman, who curls just wide. In the build-up to that, a Cheick Tiote foul was acknowledged by Dowd who then played a good advantage, but he then brings play back to book the Ivorian.
53mins: Barkley shoots from 22 yards after working some space for himself but Krul gets down well to hold.
51mins - NEWCASTLE GOAL (3-1): What a goal from Cabaye! The Frenchman has only been on the pitch for five minutes but sends a fizzing strike past Howard from almost 30 yards out. It was a fantastic hit from the midfielder, who had been an injury doubt before kick-off.
48mins: At the other end, Mirallas receives the ball from Barkley and jinks into the box from the right before driving the ball across goal. Krul pushes it partially away and Everton are unable to force the ball home as Debuchy defends well.
47mins: Anita slides a lovely ball into space for Yoan Gouffran, who dinks a a shot over the dive of Howard. The ball rolls towards goal in slow motion before clipping the inside of the post, rolling along the line and being cleared. The Frenchman was so unlucky.
46mins: Having spent most of half-time warming up, Yohan Cabaye is on in place of Ben Arfa while Mike Williamson is also on in place of Yanga-Mbiwa as Newcastle get the second period underway. Inside the first 30 seconds, Santon cuts inside from the left but sends a dipping shot some way over the top.
FIRST HALF UPDATES
45+4mins: Referee Phil Dowd blows for half-time and Alan Pardew will be pleased to get his players into the dressing room after a hugely disappointing first half. They trail 3-0 with Romelu Lukaku on target twice and Ross Barkley the other goalscorer. Click here for the half-time report.
45+3mins: Hatem Ben Arfa wriggles into space and, from a similar spot to where he scored his first Newcastle goal back in 2010, produces a low drive which Howard does well to parry to safety.
45mins: As Santon prepares to take the free-kick, the board goes up to signal four minutes of stoppage time. The Italian then blasts his shot into the wall.
44mins: Mirallas is booked for a mistimed lunge on Anita on the edge of the Everton box.
42mins: Lukaku again drills the ball into the net after a cute pass from Osman but for the second time tonight, the dreadlocked destroyer is offside.
40mins: Sissoko tries a looping effort after a hopeful ball forward and Howard is forced to scoop it up - that will go down as United's first shot on target.
37mins - EVERTON GOAL (3-0): For all the fine interplay and slick passing on display from the hosts tonight, it's a goal which would not have looked out of place on a park pitch which undoes United for the third time. A long kick from Tim Howard is allowed to bounce by the United defence and Lukaku simply runs onto it, nicks the ball past an exposed Krul and hammers the ball into the empty net from six yards. Talk about route-one - but it's hard to see the Magpies finding a route back into this match now.
25mins - EVERTON GOAL (2-0): The Toffees carve United open with a lovely move which sees Mirallas feed Lukaku, who in turn plays a lovely defence-splitting pass for Barkley to race onto and wrong-foot Krul with a smart finish. The Magpies have huffed and puffed but it's hard to argue against the hosts deserving their two-goal advantage having played some sublime football at times this evening. Lukaku in particular is proving a real handful for Newcastle, whose owner Mike Ashley and Director of Football Joe Kinnear are in the crowd.
21mins: Seamus Coleman manages to burst between Santon and Moussa Sissoko on the right wing and it takes an interception at the near post from Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to snuff out the danger at the cost of a corner. United defend the flag kick well enough but it comes out to Coleman, whose 30 yard effort is well off target.
18mins: Krul is forced to make an important save to deny James McCarthy, the former Wigan man, after United concede possession needlessly and the Magpies eventually manage to scramble the ball clear.
17mins: The first yellow card of the night is shown to Baines for a late tackle on Debuchy, who required treatment from physio Michael Harding.
8mins: Barkley, the hugely talented young Everton midfielder, tries his luck from distance and sees his powerful low drive flash just the wrong side of Krul's left-hand post. It's been a strong start from the Merseysiders and United look somewhat shellshocked right now.
5mins - EVERTON GOAL (1-0): Kevin Mirallas makes the most of a fortunate ricochet off Davide Santon to sprint past the Italian full-back and deliver a fine cross for Lukaku, who bundles the ball past the unfortunate Krul on what is the big Belgian striker's home debut for the Toffees.
2mins: Leighton Baines' ball is touched to Barkley by Lukaku, who then races onto the return and despite the best efforts of Mathieu Debuchy, takes the ball around Tim Krul. The flag had been up for several seconds, though, and the home fans' cheers were short-lived.
1min: Under the Goodison Park floodlights and in front of a global live television audience of millions, the match is underway. With both teams in their traditional home colours, it's Everton who take kick-off through Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku.
