Magpies manager Alan Pardew was a disappointed man as Newcastle lost to Sunderland in the first Tyne-Wear derby of the season, but insisted that his side deserved better.

They were pushing for a winner following Mathieu Debuchy's second-half equaliser when Fabio Borini blasted home the decisive goal.

But Pardew felt United were on the wrong end of a refereeing mistake in the build-up and was left to rue Newcastle's failure to grab a second goal before Borini struck.
