Plymouth born, Ben joined Swindon Town in the summer of 2007 after progressing through the youth ranks at Home Park.
And, after impressing in seven appearances for the Robins, the versatile defender was Sam Allardyce's first signing in the January 2008 transfer window.
Tozer made his Swindon debut on 14 August 2007 in a home Carling Cup tie against Charlton.
After a short trial with Everton in November 2007, Tozer returned to the County Ground before making a permanent switch to St. James' Park where he has signed a 4½ year contract.
Scored in his first Academy league game at Nottingham Forest before skippering the reserve side which lifted the Northumberland Senior Cup at the end of his first season.
