Pic Special: Players Go Paintballing

After training on Thursday, the entire Newcastle United first-team squad went paintballing in Northumberland as part of a team-building exercise.

Everyone from long-serving Shola Ameobi to new loan signing Loic Remy took part as the players in blue armbands took on the staff in red armbands at Delta Force in Seaton Burn.

And despite having less men, the staff won all three challenges including the third and final mission as Reserve Team Analyst Tom Coffield heroically claimed the flag on the paint-strewn battlefield.

Care was taken to ensure that there was no risk of any injuries on the eve of Saturday's friendly against SC Braga, but there were still a few war wounds - particularly to Steven Taylor. Cheick Tiote took a different approach, however, with many commenting that he is far less fearless on the paintball field than he is on a football pitch.

While most players and staff were equipped with paint guns, Dan King was armed only with a camera to bring nufc.co.uk this exclusive gallery, while additional photography came from Massadio Haidara.

And nufcTV subscribers can look forward to a video of the day shortly.
