Pic Special: April And May

United suffered heartache in the quarter-finals of the Europa League at the hands of Benfica, who would go on to be runners-up in the competition.

A first-leg 3-1 defeat in Portugal proved too big a hurdle for the Magpies to overcome back on Tyneside, although they pushed their opponents all the way in front of a packed and passionate St. James' Park.

Sandwiched in between those fixtures was a Premier League home victory over Fulham, secured by yet another last-gasp Papiss Cisse strike.

Disappointment in the Tyne-Wear derby was followed by a crucial away point at West Bromwich Albion, thanks to Yoan Gouffran's early header, but Newcastle were then hit for six - without being able to reply - by Liverpool at St. James' Park.

As we entered the final month of the season, a more solid display came at West Ham in the shape of a goalless draw, and Premier League survival was eventually secured thanks to a 2-1 win away at Queens Park Rangers.

That made the final day of the season against Arsenal largely immaterial, and instead the focus was on legend Steve Harper, with the goalkeeper playing his last game for the Club after 20 years of service.

Capturing all the action from April and May were Club Photographers Ian Horrocks and Serena Taylor.
