Pic Special: February And March
A dramatic 3-2 win over Chelsea, inspired by Moussa Sissoko on his home debut, got February off to a fantastic start, and although Gareth Bale scored twice as Newcastle lost 2-1 at Tottenham, it turned out to be a good month for the Magpies.
United were held to a 0-0 draw by Metalist Kharkiv at St. James' Park in the Europa League but won 1-0 in Moscow thanks to a Shola Ameobi penalty to reach the round of 16, and then a 4-2 win over Southampton had fans looking up the table rather than downwards.
However, missed chances proved costly at Swansea in March as United lost 1-0 in Wales but Alan Pardew's side recovered well to gain a useful goalless draw away to Anzhi Makhachkala.
And Papiss Cisse became the last action hero twice in the matter of days as he scored a late winner against Stoke and then an even later effort against Anzhi which put Newcastle through to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
They were brought back to earth with an unfortunate defeat at Wigan, though, and then lost 4-0 at Manchester City. Ian Horrocks and Serena Taylor brought nufc.co.uk the best pictures from February and March.
