Pic Special: Steve's Final Stand

It was an emotional afternoon at St. James' Park on Sunday as Steve Harper said farewell to Newcastle United.

The 38-year-old stopper, who was completing his 20th season on Tyneside, captained the Magpies in the final match of the 2012/13 season, as they lost 1-0 against Arsenal.

Harper was making his 199th appearance for the Club following a career which has seen FA Cup final and Champions League appearances since his arrival from Seaham Red Star in 1993.

Granted an outstanding reception from the sell-out St. James' Park crowd, there was also a minute's applause in the 37th minute for the man who wears the number 37 shirt.

And it clearly moved Harper, as this gallery of images from Club Photographers Ian Horrocks and Serena Taylor shows.
