Pic Special: QPR 1 Newcastle 2

Hatem Ben Arfa and Yoan Gouffran fired Newcastle United to Premier League safety with a 2-1 win at Queens Park Rangers on Sunday.

The Magpies went behind early on to Loic Remy's penalty, awarded when Mathieu Debuchy was adjudged to have fouled Junior Hoilett just inside the area.

But when Ben Arfa's shirt was tugged by Jose Bosingwa in the box the Frenchman stepped up to smash a spot-kick of his own into the top corner.

And then a mix-up between Bosingwa and Rangers goalkeeper Robert Green presented Gouffran with an open goal and a composed 20-yard finish.

There was a late red card for United stopper Rob Elliot but the visitors held firm to secure all three points and, with it, their top flight status for another year.
