Pic Special: Benfica 3 Newcastle 1

Newcastle United have it all to do in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Benfica, having suffered a first leg 3-1 defeat on Thursday night.

Alan Pardew's men were not fazed by the prospect of playing in the famous Estadio da Luz, complete with its pre-match ritual of releasing a soaring eagle around the stadium.

And it was the Magpies who swooped first, with Papiss Cisse turning home Moussa Sissoko's cross to put the visitors ahead.

However, Benfica hit back and Rodrigo levelled things up before the break, pouncing on a loose ball following a Tim Krul save.

Then, in the second half, Lima capitalised on a poor Davide Santon back pass, before Oscar Cardozo drilled home number three from the penalty spot.

And Club Photographer Ian Horrocks captured the best of the action for this gallery of images.
