Pic Special: Stepping Into The Light

On Wednesday afternoon, Newcastle's players trained at the Estadio da Luz ahead of Thursday's Europa League quarter-final against Benfica - and what a magificent arena it is.

The 65,647-capacity venue will play host to the last eight first leg match and, after Alan Pardew and Tim Krul conducted the pre-game press conference, the team set foot on it for the first time.

Even the likes of Shola Ameobi, who has seen and done most things in a black and white shirt, were impressed while 18-year-old Adam Campbell could only dream of such experiences just a few months ago.

It was also a sweet moment for Ryan Taylor, who trained with the team at the famous stadium as he steps up his recovery from a long-term knee injury. He can certainly see the light now and, at a venue which translates into English as the Stadium of Light, so could the rest of the squad.
