Pic Special: Norwich 0 Newcastle 0

Newcastle United ended a run of four successive defeats with a goalless draw away at Norwich on Saturday.

Having slipped to losses against Manchester United, Arsenal, Everton and Brighton in the last three weeks, the Magpies provided much more resistance at Carrow Road.

Right-back Mathieu Debuchy impressed on his debut, while goalkeeper Tim Krul and defenders Fabricio Coloccini, Mike Williamson and Davide Santon were outstanding on a difficult afternoon.

At the other end of the pitch United had their chances, with Gabriel Obertan seeing an effort saved by Mark Bunn and Coloccini and Jonas Gutierrez both going close.

There was also a welcome return to action for Yohan Cabaye, two months after the midfielder underwent groin surgery.
