Newcastle United's second-string were dumped out of the Northumberland FA Senior Cup at the quarter-final stage as they went down 3-2 at Bedlington Terriers on Tuesday night.

The early stages went to plan, with the Magpies' experienced side - including the likes of Nile Ranger, Mehdi Abeid, Romain Amalfitano and Adam Campbell - breaking the deadlock thanks to captain Shane Ferguson's free-kick.

However, right on the stroke of half-time, Mark Convery levelled direct from a set-piece which was every bit as eye-catching as Ferguson's.

Mark Doninger's 30-yard lob edged Bedlington ahead just before the hour mark, with Richard Pell's header giving the hosts breathing space.

Substitute JJ Hooper pulled one back for Newcastle but they were unable to force an equaliser as the Northern League Division One outfit pulled off a shock result.
