New signing Mathieu Debuchy was put through his paces for the first time as a Magpie on Friday morning, as the squad prepared for Saturday's FA Cup third round clash at Brighton.

The French international full-back will not play at the AMEX Stadium but met his new teammates at the Club's Benton-based Training Centre and went straight into a tough session alongside them.

After a fun warm-up, which led to James Tavernier suffering press-ups as punishment for losing an exercise, the group were soon into the hard work, watched closely by Steven Taylor and Yohan Cabaye - who are both nearing returns to full training.
