Pic Special: Southampton 2 Newcastle 0

It was pain in the rain for Newcastle on the South Coast on Sunday, as they returned from Southampton empty-handed.

Adam Lallana and Gaston Ramirez gave the hosts a comfortable 2-0 victory at St. Mary's Stadium, as both players struck from close range to inflict a third successive Premier League defeat on Alan Pardew's side.

The Magpies went closest through a Davide Santon header and Vurnon Anita's low shot early in the second half, but they also had goalkeeper Tim Krul to thank for keeping the scoreline down as the big Dutchman made a string of fine stops to keep Southampton at bay.

Capturing all the action in torrential conditions was Club Photographer Ian Horrocks, and he has put together this gallery of images from the fixture.
