Pic Special: Sunderland 1 Newcastle 1

Tyne-Wear derbies are never dull affairs, and Sunday's Premier League clash between Newcastle and Sunderland followed suit with two goals, one red card and plenty of incident.

Yohan Cabaye gave United a dream start at the Stadium of Light, drilling home a loose ball after Demba Ba's angled shot had been saved.

But in the 25th minute the Magpies were reduced to ten men as referee Martin Atkinson gave Cheick Tiote his marching orders, following a late lunge by the midfielder on Steven Fletcher.

However, that didn't halt the visitors. Ba - who was outstanding up top on his own following the red card - sent an acrobatic overhead kick over the bar, and also prodded past Simon Mignolet in the second half but was unable to get any power on his effort.

And Sunderland snatched a late point when John O'Shea connected with a free-kick, only to see his off-target header strike the unfortunate Ba and nestle in the back of the net.

It was an enthralling encounter and Club Photographer Ian Horrocks was there to capture the best of the action and create this gallery of images.
