The first Tyne-Wear derby of the season took place on Saturday at Sunderland's Academy of Light - and it was the Black Cats who came out on top on this occasion.

In a typically hard-fought affair, George Honeyman gave them the lead before Martin Smith doubled the advantage. And although Alex Gilliead pulled one back, Mikael Mandron made it 3-1 at half-time from the penalty spot.
