It was a stalemate at the Kyocera Stadium on Saturday afternoon as United played out a 0-0 pre-season friendly draw with ADO Den Haag.

The Magpies had the best of the game in Holland, with Papiss Cisse having a header scrambled off the line and Shola Ameobi seeing a goal ruled out, but they were unable to break the deadlock.

Manager Alan Pardew admitted his side should have triumphed on their travels, but had to settle for a draw instead.
