It's not just been ballwork for the Magpies' squad during their tour of Germany.

On Sunday afternoon, as their second session of the day, the players commandeered a nearby gym where they were put through a gruelling boxing workout.

Summer signing Romain Amalfitano got a little too enthusiastic at one point, going through the pads and accidentally catching assistant manager John Carver, but it was all in good spirits and raised a big smile from the French midfielder.
