United's stars completed their first training session in Germany on Friday morning.

With their opening friendly - against local third division side Chemnitzer - later the same day (6.30pm kick-off local time), it was understandably a light session conducted by manager Alan Pardew and his coaching staff.

Following a warm-up, the players were split into groups with some doing ballwork exercises under the watchful eye John Carver and Steve Stone.

The remainder of the outfield players undertook a number of crossing and finishing drills with the manager, while goalkeepers Rob Elliot and Steve Harper were put through their paces by Andy Woodman.
