Summer signing Romain Amalfitano was among the next batch of Newcastle United players to report back for pre-season training on Wednesday.

The midfielder, signed from French club Stade de Reims, underwent fitness testing and power profiling along with a handful of his new teammates, under the watchful eye of the Magpies' medical staff.

Also at the Benton-based Training Centre were Jonas Gutierrez, Demba Ba, Xisco, Davide Santon and Steve Harper.

Willie Donachie's Reserves were also back in action, taking part in a number of ball work exercises, and capturing every piece of action - including new boy Amalfitano - was Club Photographer Ian Horrocks.
