Pic Special: March And AprilMarch and April arguably saw United play some of their best football of the 2011/12 season, producing some memorable results and special goals in the process. A late strike from Tyne-Wear Derby specialist Shola Ameobi secured the Magpies a share of the spoils against Sunderland with a 1-1 draw, before the tables were turned and Newcastle were on the receiving end of a late sucker punch. That came at Arsenal as Thomas Vermaelen swooped deep into stoppage time to record a 2-1 win. But there had been plenty of promise in that performance at the Emirates, despite United's defeat, and they then embarked on a remarkable run of six successive victories - scoring 13 goals and conceding just once. Within that run there was a superb 2-0 home win over Liverpool, who boasted former Newcastle stars Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique in their line-up, while against Bolton, Hatem Ben Arfa broke the deadlock with one of the goals of the season, having picked up the ball inside his own half before going on a mazy dribble. As ever, Club Photographers Ian Horrocks and Serena Taylor were there every step of the way, and have created this gallery of their snaps.
