Pic Special: Everton 3 Newcastle 1United's 2011/12 Premier League campaign came to a close with a 3-1 defeat at Everton on Sunday. Steven Pienaar, Nikica Jelavic and John Heitinga put the hosts into a three-goal lead at Goodison Park, before Tony Hibbert's own goal put the Magpies on the scoresheet. Newcastle were sporting their new burgundy change strip, and had a couple of chances to reduce the arrears further - most notably a Papiss Cisse header which was clawed away by Toffees keeper Tim Howard. Around 3,000 travelling fans made the trip to Merseyside, and despite the result were in great voice as they celebrated a return to European football for United and a fifth-placed finish. And Club Photographer Serena Taylor was pitchside to capture the best of the action and create this gallery. |
