Pic Special: Wigan 4 Newcastle 0

Newcastle United remain fourth in the Premier League, despite slipping to a 4-0 defeat away at Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

The Magpies went into the fixture at the DW Stadium full of confidence following six successive victories, but were undone by a Wigan side who were rampant in the first half, scoring four times without reply.

Victor Moses - twice - Shaun Maloney and Franco Di Santo were on target for the hosts, who are battling to avoid the drop.

Newcastle had chances of their own in the second half, with Papiss Cisse three times unable to convert good chances, and Hatem Ben Arfa also going close having created an opening for himself.
