Ryan Taylor struck a stunning half-volley to light up St. James' Park on Guy Fawkes night as Newcastle beat Everton 2-1.

The full-back fired past Toffees keeper Tim Howard from 25 yards to net what turned out to be the winner, with United extending their unbeaten start to the Premier League campaign to 11 games.

A John Heitinga own goal put the Magpies ahead before Taylor doubled their advantage. And even though Jack Rodwell netted for Everton just before half-time, the hosts held firm to pick up another three points.
