Pic Special: Liverpool v NewcastleAnfield, the famous home of Liverpool, has not been a happy hunting ground for Newcastle in recent years and so that trend continued on Sunday, with Kenny Dalglish leading his men to a 3-0 win. Maxi Rodriguez's early goal was pivotal, but The Magpies got stronger as the first half went on and almost equalised at the beginning of the second period with Joey Barton shooting just wide. But a penalty awarded in front of the Kop as Mike Williamson tangled with Luis Suarez saw Dirk Kuyt convert from the spot, then Suarez got in on the act himself to complete the scoring. Andy Carroll made an appearance in his new colours as a second half substitute but failed to get on the scoresheet. However, club photographer Ian Horrocks captured the best of the action from the Merseyside match. |
