Charlotte Roberts and her boyfriend Carl

Club Members were recently given a chance to win the ultimate away day experience for Newcastle's game at Arsenal on 29th December.

Charlotte Roberts was drawn out, meaning her and a guest travelled first class by train to London, where they then stayed in the team hotel, enjoyed a three-course meal and breakfast before watching the match from the best seats in the house. This is her story...

I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I found out I had won. I was in shock. I was shaking and I was absolutely stunned. My colleagues at work were asking if I was okay because I looked totally gobsmacked.

After I hung up the phone I went straight to see my boss to make sure I could have the day off work. She couldn't believe what i had won either because the prize was that good, so I had no problem in getting the time off work. My colleagues were really excited for me. Then I went straight to the phone to call my boyfriend to tell him the news. Asleep in bed after his Christmas party, he was hysterical when I told him.

Up bright and early on the Friday morning for our train, the excitement was well and truly kicking in. Our train journey down was lovely, with us getting our breakfast so once we reached London we checked straight in to the hotel then we were ready for a bit of sightseeing.

With sore feet after walking all over London we went back to the hotel to explore. The hotel was amazing! The staff were lovely and even told us some facts about the place like the Spice Girls had filmed some of the video for Wannabe there.

The food and facilities were first class. We saw pretty much every member of the team walking around the hotel, stopping for the odd bit of chit chat with a couple of players and some members of the attached staff who were really nice - even getting the chance for a quick few words with Alan Pardew himself a few hours before the match.

Then it was on the tube and off to the match. We had never been the Emirates before so were really looking forward to seeing it. It's a fantastic stadium. The staff were really helpful at showing us where to go. We were really looked after with sandwiches and drinks in the directors lounge before the game, then heading down to the Directors box. The seats were really nice and comfy and offered one of the best views we've ever had. It was unbelievable. We really enjoyed the game - apart from the score of course!

The train back was full of Geordies and even though we had just been beaten 7-3, nothing would dampen our spirits and it was such good fun with people singing songs and everyone joining in with a little quiz!
