Haris Vuckic scored for the second time in two days as the Reserves maintained their unbeaten pre-season record with a draw at Leeds' Thorp Arch training ground.

The Slovenian was on target in the first-team's 5-1 demolition of Hartlepool on Tuesday night and, less than 24 hours later, netted for Willie Donachie and Peter Beardsley's second-string during a 45 minute run-out.

United had gone behind in front of Neil Warnock but, on an afternoon which also saw Mehdi Abeid and new signing Curtis Good figure, Vuckic stole in to equalise.

Jak Alnwick - who had made his senior bow as a late substitute at Victoria Park the previous evening - gave away a 20th minute penalty which was converted by Dominic Poleon.

The 19-year-old goalkeeper took a split-second too long in clearing a back-pass and Poleon won the ball before being upended and picking himself up to confidently power home from the spot.

But the Magpies quickly responded, with Conor Newton bringing a decent stop from the home keeper after Vuckic set him up and then Adam Campbell being foiled by a smart smothering save.

Moments later, though, Vuckic raced onto Paul Dummett's long ball and beat the offside trap to draw Newcastle level in the 34th minute.

Newton then teed up Bradden Inman, whose effort was tipped around the post, before Alnwick more than redeemed himself for his role in the Leeds opener with three good saves before the break.

He made another great stop early in the first half, somehow keeping out a deflected shot which looked to be looping in, but the visitors ended the match on top.

Sub JJ Hooper was ruled offside as he tapped home the rebound from Dennis Knight's shot, which had been parried, before Marcus Maddison was denied after a spot of ball-juggling in the box resulted in a well-struck effort from the teenage winger.

And with three minutes left, Brandon Miele's 20-yard curler crashed back off the angle of post and bar, with Newton's follow up going wide.
