Barclays Under-18 Premier League North group champions Manchester City rounded off the season in style with a comfortable victory over Dave Watson's young Magpies.

The hosts took a tenth minute lead at Platt Lane through a Liam Gibson own goal before Newcastle squandered a good opportunity to level when Alex Gilliead missed from the penalty spot.

And that proved costly as Jorge Intima made it 2-0 to the Blues soon afterwards following a pacy run on the right.

United - who handed a debut to trialist Olufela Olomola - refused to cave in, however, and it was not until the 76th minute that City scored again - Aaron Nemane beating Paul Woolston to add a third.

Substitute Tom Heardman pulled one back eight minutes from time but in stoppage time, home skipper Ashley Smith-Brown completed the scoring as he jinked into the box and drilled past United's 15-year-old goalkeeper.
