Arsenal Under-18s 1 (Mavididi)
Newcastle United Under-18s 0
Newcastle United's youngsters were beaten for the first time in five matches as they went down to a 1-0 defeat at Arsenal.
The Magpies had won their previous four matches ahead of the trip to the Gunners' London Colney training ground.
But Stephy Mavididi's 32nd minute goal proved decisive for the FA Youth Cup semi-finalists despite a good team performance from Dave Watson's side.
Tom Heardman came close to opening the scoring early on from Adam Laidler's left wing cross before Mavididi scored what proved to be the only goal of a tight affair.
He cut in from the right-hand side and finished well, leaving 15-year-old goalkeeper with no chance.
The Newcastle netminder made a superb double save in the second period to keep his side in the game and the Magpies piled on the pressure late on.
Laidler and Heardman both threatened before Kyle Cameron headed against a post late on.
