Newcastle United Under-18s 3
Clyde Under-18s 1
United's Academy side ended their pre-season campaign with a win as three first-half goals were enough to see off Clyde at Little Benton.
Having reached the final of the Milk Cup and gone unbeaten in their warm-up matches, Dave Watson's side look well prepared for the season ahead, which starts with a home game against Tottenham on Saturday.
The Magpies took the lead after just four minutes in this final friendly with Rolando Aarons going down under a challenge from the Scots' goalkeeper and picking himself up to confidently convert from the spot.
Freddie Woodman - just back from representing England under-17s in the Nordic Tournament - made two vital one-on-one saves before Aarons won a second penalty kick in the 32nd minute. Liam Smith stepped up this time and drilled the ball home.
Seconds later, it was 3-0 as Jonathyn Quinn latched onto a poor clearance and rounded the keeper before squaring unselfishly for Alex Gilliead to tap into the net.
Sean Doherty pulled one back early in the second half, showing good strength and skill to charge through the defence and finish cooly past substitute keeper Jonathan Mitchell.
But United comfortably saw the game out, despite making a number of changes, and could well have added to their lead with Greg Olley and sub Daniel Barlaser both coming close.
