NEWCASTLE United recorded their biggest home win of the season as Bolton Wanderers were beaten 3-1 at St. James' Park to extend caretaker boss Glenn Roeder's unbeaten record to six matches.
Both Emre and Kevin Nolan, via a Robbie Elliott deflection, had seen efforts hit the woodwork before Nolberto Solano broke the deadlock with an exquisite 25-yard free-kick in the 34th minute.
Skipper Alan Shearer then nodded a crucial second just seconds before half-time, netting goal number 202 of his Toon career from a Charles N'Zogbia cross.
Shola Ameobi fired in a third from close range in the 69th minute before Kevin Davies (71) cut the arrears.
It was only the second time the Magpies had scored three goals at home in the Premiership this term.
But the victory completed a superb seven days for the club that has seen the first team win twice, the Reserves triumph and the juniors move into the semi-finals of the FA Youth Cup.

FIRST-HALF ACTION UPDATES
The half-time whistle is met by great cheers as United head for the dressing rooms having doubled their lead in the dying seconds.
45min - NEWCASTLE GOAL (2-0): Great play in the engine room from Scott Parker and Emre sees the ball worked to Celestine Babayaro on the left. 33min - There is another great chance for Newcastle to open the scoring. Patient possession play suddenly opens up Bolton as Charles N'Zogbia goes clear down the left. He advances into the box and picks out an unmarked Shola Ameobi - but the big striker miskicks horribly and the chance is gone.

At the other end, N'Zogbia crosses to the near post from the left, but Jussi Jaaskelainen collects ahead of Shola Ameobi.
24min - This time it's Newcastle who have the woodwork to thank for being on level terms. Hidetoshi Nakata's left-wing cross to the back post is expertly nodded down by Gary Speed into the path of Kevin Nolan. The visiting skipper volleys down into the turf and as the ball comes up it strikes the head of Robbie Elliott and diverts against Shay Given's left-hand post, with the Magpies' keeper totally helpless having begun to dive to his right.
18min - Only the woodwork stops Emre from giving Newcastle the lead. Good pressing by Scott Parker sees the ball fall for the Turk 20 yards from goal, and his dipping left-foot effort beats the dive of Jussi Jaaskelainen, but strikes the base of the keeper's right-hand post and bounces away to safety. It is a lucky escape for the visitors.
17min - Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has to make an early change and Jay-Jay Okocha disappears to be replaced by Hidetoshi Nakata.
