Yohan Cabaye

By Anthony Marshall - Newcastle United Managing Editor

Newcastle United travel to Aston Villa on Saturday in the Barclays Premier League (3pm kick-off).

The Magpies will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to four games, while Villa have already suffered two Premier League defeats this season - at the hands of Chelsea and Liverpool.

When the sides met last season, a Hatem Ben Arfa wonder-strike secured a 1-1 draw on Tyneside, before Papiss Cisse and Yohan Cabaye fired United to a 2-1 victory in the Midlands.

STAT ATTACK
Saturday's meeting is the 156th match between the two clubs, and the 149th in the league. Newcastle have won more league games against Aston Villa than against any other club.

TEAM NEWS
Aston Villa - Deadline day signing Libor Kozak could make his debut after arriving from Lazio, while Antonio Luna and Nathan Baker could be fit following knocks. However, ex-Magpie Charles N'Zogbia is a long-term absentee with an Achilles injury.

Newcastle - Centre-back Steven Taylor is available for selection again, having served a three-game suspension, and he could be joined by fit-again Cheick Tiote who has recovered from a groin injury. Gabriel Obertan, Mike Williamson and Jonas Gutierrez are doubts, while Massadio Haidara (hamstring) and Ryan Taylor (knee) are ruled out.

A WORD FROM BOTH CAMPS
Paul Lambert, Aston Villa manager: "Newcastle is a huge football club and Alan has done great up there. They've got some really top players and this is a tough game, but we're certainly playing really well at the minute and will go into the game with a lot of confidence. We are ready for this one."

Alan Pardew, Newcastle manager: "If you look at Aston Villa and ourselves - in terms of the finances we have available - we are very similar clubs. And therefore it's a big game for us, one that could determine our position in the league at the end of the season. It's important we get a result."
