Newcastle United were formed as Stanley FC of St Peter's in Byker in November 1881 then changed their name to Newcastle East End, then changed it again after the finalncial collapse of rivals Newcastle West End during the summer of 1892.

In December 1892 the new title for East End FC was selected after a public meeting.....Newcastle United.
