Fairs Cup legend and former Newcastle United footballer Bob Moncur will join Metro's Stu and Kelly, as well as newsreader Micky Welch, in abseiling 150ft from the roof of St. James' Park for Newcastle United Foundation.

Used to having his feet firmly on the pitch, Bob has bravely decided to participate in this exhilarating event on Saturday, 12th April to raise awareness and funds for the Magpies' official charity. As its patron, Bob has seen first-hand how the Foundation uses the North East's passion for football and Newcastle United to make a difference to the lives of over 50,000 children, young people and families annually.

With this unique event approaching Bob is aware of the fun challenge ahead, stating: "By taking part in the abseil challenge, I hope to raise awareness of the Foundation's fantastic work in the community and to test myself too.

"At the age of 69 it is an exciting yet scary challenge, but if I can do it, anyone can. There are no excuses!"

Places are still available to take part alongside Bob and the Metro Radio team in this adrenaline packed event where you will battle the height of eleven double decker buses.

To reserve a place, call 0191 201 8451 or email foundation@nufc.co.uk by the end January. Registration fee is £30, and you will be asked to raise a minimum of £140 by April 2014.
