A donation has been made to Newcastle West End Foodbank this Christmas using funds raised from the event held in October at St James' Park.

Organised by Middlesbrough & Teesside Philanthropic Foundation in partnership with Newcastle United Foundation, the CEO Sleepout was an opportunity for business people to raise awareness and important funds for essential homeless services in the city.

Newcastle West End Foodbank will benefit from a cash donation alongside a generous food donation from specialist catering company 3663 which will help families in the North East that are faced with hunger this Christmas. The Foodbank works with frontline care agencies based in the Westgate, Scotswood, and Benwell wards and parts of surrounding areas in the West of the City and West into the Tyne Valley.

The food bank is currently feeding seven hundred people a week, with each client receiving food for the family for three days. The total since starting at the end of March is almost 8,000.

Further funds from the CEO Sleepout will be distributed to a range of good causes including Changing Lives towards the cost of employing a new worker in Newcastle and Newcastle United Foundation to help set up and run the Newcastle Homeless Football Club, a new initiative which aims to improve the health, confidence and life chances of homeless people across Tyneside.
