Abseil

Do you have a head for heights or want to conquer your fears?

Why not take part in the Newcastle United Foundation's Abseil Challenge event at St. James' Park on Saturday, 12th April, 2014.

Registration is now open for the charity event, where you can be part of a 90-strong team, abseiling 100 metres down from the roof of St. James' Park while supporting the Magpies' official charity. You can call us directly or sign up via Virgin Money Giving.

This unique challenge is open to anyone brave enough to tackle the heady heights of the famous Tyneside stadium, and you will also get amazing views of the city. If you're an adrenaline junkie, football fan or just fancy a team challenge with your work colleagues this could be for you.

Entry fee for the abseil is £30 per person, which will cover the cost of staging the event. The entry fee ensures all the money you raise in sponsorship will go to the Newcastle United Foundation.

We then ask that you raise a minimum of £140 in sponsorship (to be sent to the Foundation two weeks after the event in April 2014). We will send you a fundraising pack with lots of advice and tips on how to reach your target once you have registered.

Every participant will receive a medal on completing the abseil.

Who can take part?

Anyone aged 14 or over can take part. All participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. However this person does not need to take part in the abseil.

There are no minimum/maximum height restrictions, but we ask that participants are reasonably fit and active in order to get up onto the roof and into position to abseil.

Who runs the event and where is it?

Instruction and equipment will be provided on the day by qualified instructors from Vertical Events who will be in overall charge of the event, so no previous experience is necessary and there is no need to worry.

The abseil will take place at St. James' Park from the roof of North-West corner to pitchside.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you need any more details. Please bear in mind there are limited spaces available for this event and places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, so register as soon as possible.

Newcastle United Foundation uses the power of football and Newcastle United to change lives and build better futures.

Every year, we make a real difference to the lives of 40,000 disadvantaged children, young adults and families across the North-East by continually tackling issues such as childhood obesity, youth unemployment, and making sport accessible to all.

As an independent charity, we raise more than £1.2 million annually and rely on the enthusiastic support and commitment of Newcastle United fans and the local community to do this. By taking part in this challenge, you are helping us do this. Thank you.
