Andrew Johnson, Stacey Smith and Jennifer Rea have been appointed as project officers, working in local primary schools, while Lee Fairley and Laura Robson take up the same role in the community team, working with young people.

Finally, Anna Dodgson takes up the post of assistant keeper, with responsibility for organising a major exhibition at the Discovery Museum in February 2014.

Kate Bradley, head of the Newcastle United Foundation said: "We are delighted to welcome all our new starters.

"We hope it is an exciting time to join our charity as we celebrate our fifth birthday this season.

"Demand for our services is growing all the time so expanding the team is crucial if we are to reach our target of helping 50,000 children, young people and families each year."
