Salary; £19,000 per annum, depending on experience

Newcastle United Foundation, in partnership with Tyne and Wear Museums is seeking to recruit an Assistant Keeper (NUFC History) as part of its Toon Times Project. The successful applicant will report directly to the Heritage Project coordinator. The role is centered around curating a major exhibition at the Discovery Museum in 2014, focusing on the rich history and heritage of Newcastle United Football Club, its supporters and the local area. The exhibition will showcase the highs and lows of the football club and appeal to fans of all ages, through a blend of traditional displays and interactive features to bring history to life.

The job role is:
To sort, catalogue and digitise Newcastle United Football Club's extensive archive and artefact stores and to identify pieces of significant interest. This collection will then form the basis of a major exhibition at the Discovery Museum. Liaising with club supporters, staff and past and present players will be vital to ensure a wide collection of material is sourced for the exhibition.

The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of the exhibition including sourcing all materials and images, writing accompanying text and the overall design and layout of the exhibition, whilst working to a set budget. Once the exhibition is open to the public the Assistant Keeper will design and deliver a range of outreach activities to ensure the exhibition is visited by a diverse range of visitors. Once the exhibition closes the Assistant Keeper will be responsible for dismantling the exhibition and returning items to their owners.

The ideal candidate will have:
 -A relevant degree
 -Proven experience of museum and exhibition work
 -Ability to develop, sort and catalogue collections
 -Experience of monitoring and evaluating work, planning and recording
 -Experience of working with key agencies and partners
 -Excellent communication skills
 -A proven ability to work to deadlines, prioritising, and delegating work appropriately
 -Commitment to seeking and learning from feedback and using this to inform future delivery
