United duo Danny Simpson and James Perch were at St. James' Park this week to support the Newcastle United Foundation's Toon Times scheme - a new project where local primary school children learn about football through the ages and how players of different eras prepared for and played games.
United legends Bob Moncur and Peter Beardsley joined in too and discussed with the children how training, diet and fitness programmes have changed over the years.
James Perch said: "It was really good interacting with the children who were all very well informed and enthusiastic."
And Danny added: "Listening to some of the stories Bob and Peter came up with was fascinating. They maybe did things differently in their day but in any era, they were still fabulous players."
Also present were United Academy first year scholars Tom Heardman and Macaulay Gillesphey.
